Katy Perry has been granted a permanent restraining order this week against Ross Elliott Hedrick, a 43‑year‑old described as a transient who repeatedly showed up uninvited at her Santa Barbara/Montecito estate.
Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Perry first filed for civil harassment protection on June 18, citing two alarming trespassing incidents in May. The man allegedly approached her property with an aerosol can and butane lighter, leading to his arrest during the first appearance. Remarkably, just one week later, he returned and was seen placing a blanket over the security gate
The court issued a temporary restraining order on June 23, requiring Hedrick to stay at least 100 yards away from Perry, her partner Orlando Bloom, their shared home, workplace, and vehicles. The order was set to expire unless made permanent at a hearing scheduled for July 14
On July 14, a judge officially upgraded the temporary measure to a permanent restraining order, ensuring that Hedrick remains barred from coming within 100 yards of Katy, Orlando, or their child.
In her initial filing, Perry described Hedrick’s actions as part of an “obsessive pattern” and expressed deep concern that, despite his arrest, he would return. Footage from her Ring security cameras and eyewitness reports backed up her claim.
The legal action also includes protection for Perry’s partner, reportedly Orlando Bloom, even though he and Perry recently ended their engagement after nine years together. The pair share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy.
Hedrick's repeated trespassing, particularly carrying potentially dangerous items, prompted Perry's legal team to argue he posed a credible threat to her and her family. The court agreed, citing compelling evidence and found sufficient cause to make the restraining order permanent. This marks the latest in a series of security-related legal actions Perry has faced over the years, including separate restraining orders issued in 2017 and 2020. Despite her fame, she remains adamant about protecting her personal life and her child’s well-being.
