Drake has come under fire from fans after his headline set at Wireless Festival in London lasted just 40 minutes, leaving thousands of festival-goers disappointed and confused.
The Canadian superstar was the main attraction on Sunday night at Finsbury Park, closing out the three-day event with what many expected to be a marathon set. He even arrived 10 minutes ahead of schedule, telling the packed crowd he planned to go on “until they cut my mic” in a nod to the festival’s strict 9:30pm curfew.
But fans who’d queued for hours and paid hefty ticket prices were left stunned when the show wrapped up early, despite his promise to keep going.
The confusion began earlier in the day when festival-goers noticed two Drake slots listed on the official schedule: one at 6:25pm and another at 8:55pm. The first appearance mysteriously disappeared from the line-up mid-afternoon without explanation, and he ultimately appeared earlier than expected, immediately following Burna Boy’s performance.
Social media was flooded with frustrated posts from fans, some of whom described the experience as “disappointing” and “not worth the money.”
“40 minutes from Drake? Really? That’s what we waited all day for?” one fan posted on X.
Others claimed the early start caught people off guard, with many scrambling back to the main stage when his set kicked off.
By 9:30pm, the music had stopped, in line with the park’s curfew, and fans were left wanting more.
Drake himself appeared surprised by the situation. Taking to Instagram after the show, he wrote:
“Thank you London. Need some time to process what just happened so I don’t have my usual caption… just thank you so much for the best 3 nights of my performance career.”
The star didn’t address the confusion over the timing or the abrupt end, but his message suggested he may not have been fully aware of what was going on behind the scenes either.
Drake’s headline slot was part of a three-night run at Wireless, which also featured show-stopping performances from Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, and Burna Boy. While his earlier shows over the weekend were better received, Sunday’s closing night left a sour taste for many.
Wireless organisers have yet to comment on the scheduling issues or the backlash from fans, who are now calling for refunds or some kind of explanation.
