Pop star Mutya Buena, best known as one-third of the original Sugababes, has been confirmed as one of the contestants for the next series of The Great British Bake Off: Stand Up To Cancer.
The singer, 39, is set to trade pop hits for pastry when she dons her apron to raise money for the cancer charity. According to a source quoted by The Sun:
“Mutya doesn’t consider herself much of a baker, but it’s for charity and she couldn’t say no. She’s excited, and a bit nervous, to show a different side of herself in the tent!”
Mutya joins an impressive and eclectic line-up of stars who are sure to bring plenty of laughs, and perhaps a few baking disasters, to the tent. Joining her this year are Human hitmaker Rag’n’Bone Man, American singer and dancer JoJo Siwa, Strictly Come Dancing favourite Vicky Pattison, influencer and former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague, TV and radio presenter Mark Wright, broadcaster Edith Bowman, comedian and 8 Out of 10 Cats regular Jon Richardson, comedian Babatunde Aléshé, and actress Ambika Mod, who recently wowed audiences in One Day.

The much-loved celebrity spin-off has become a fixture of Channel 4’s charity calendar, raising millions for cancer research over the years. As always, it promises a mix of kitchen chaos, emotional moments, and heartwarming stories, with plenty of innuendo-laden humour from presenters Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond.
Mutya, who rose to fame in the late ’90s with the Sugababes, has enjoyed a career resurgence in recent years as the original trio reunited for live shows and festival appearances. Fans of the band are thrilled to see her step into such an iconic British TV format and support a worthy cause.
One fan posted on X: “Mutya in the Bake Off tent? Yes please! Can’t wait to see her baking up some classics.” Another joked: “If she doesn’t bake a cake called ‘Too Lost In You,’ what’s the point?”
Mutya and her fellow bakers will compete to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with their showstoppers, signature bakes, and technical challenges, though winning Star Baker is just the icing on the cake for this charity series.
