Ronan Keating is set to bring in 2026 in style, as the BBC confirms he will front a special New Year’s Eve programme packed with music, nostalgia and a surprise Boyzone reunion. The BBC One show, titled Ronan & Friends: A New Year’s Eve Party, will air on December 31 and promises to be a feel-good celebration filled with familiar faces and chart-topping hits.
In what will delight fans of 90s pop, Ronan will reunite on stage with two of his former Boyzone bandmates, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch, for a special performance during the show. The appearance marks an earlier-than-expected reunion for the group, coming ahead of their already announced one-off stadium show next year, their first major live performance together since their five-night run at the London Palladium back in 2019.
The BBC special is being billed as a night of music and celebration, with Ronan welcoming a star-studded line-up of guest performers to help audiences count down to midnight. Alongside his Boyzone bandmates, Ronan will be joined by Louise, formerly of Eternal and also known as Louise Redknapp. The singer will bring her iconic 90s pop catalogue to the stage, including hits such as Naked, Arms Around the World and 2 Faced.
Also appearing on the night is Calum Scott, the singer-songwriter behind the global hit You Are The Reason. Known for his emotional performances and powerful vocals, Calum is expected to deliver one of the evening’s standout moments as he joins Ronan to perform for the BBC One audience.
Completing the line-up is Shona McGarty, best known for her role on EastEnders. Fresh from finishing third on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here, Shona will add what the BBC has described as a “theatrical flair” to the festivities, offering something a little different to the music-heavy line-up.
As the night builds towards midnight, Ronan and his guests will lead viewers through a celebratory countdown, performing live as the nation prepares to welcome the New Year. When the clock strikes twelve, the programme will cut away to London’s world-famous fireworks display, ensuring viewers at home don’t miss a moment of the iconic celebrations along the Thames.
The party doesn’t stop there. After midnight, Ronan will return to BBC One to keep the celebrations going into the early hours of 2026, extending the festive atmosphere with more music, reflections and New Year cheer.
For Ronan Keating, the special represents a full-circle moment. From his Boyzone days in the 90s to a hugely successful solo career, he remains one of the UK and Ireland’s most enduring pop stars. Hosting the BBC’s New Year’s Eve coverage places him firmly at the heart of the nation’s celebrations, with producers confident his warmth, experience and musical catalogue will appeal to viewers of all ages.
Fans have already taken to social media to share their excitement, particularly at the prospect of seeing Boyzone back together on television. With nostalgia-fuelled performances, a diverse line-up of guests and the spectacle of the London fireworks, Ronan & Friends: A New Year’s Eve Party is shaping up to be one of BBC One’s biggest end-of-year events.
As 2025 draws to a close, Ronan Keating looks ready to help the nation sing, celebrate and dance its way into 2026.
