Following the success of Wicked: Part 1 in 2024, audiences have been eager to see how director Jon M. Chu will bring the darker, more dramatic second half of the story to life. With Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, Wicked: For Good promises to be an emotional spectacle featuring brand-new original songs alongside fan-favourite classics.
According to those lucky enough to have seen the CinemaCon trailer, the footage opens with Glinda standing in the Emerald City, calling out: “Elphaba, I know you’re here. Just come out before the monkeys spot you.” Elphaba’s response? A chilling nod to her fate: “This is between us, the Wizard and I,” all while the haunting score of No Good Deed builds in the background.
The trailer teases a high-stakes showdown as Fiyero leads a search for Elphaba, who boldly scrawls “Our Wizard Lies” across the sky with her broomstick. The tension rises with glimpses of an angry mob wielding pitchforks, an emotionally charged exchange between Glinda and Elphaba, and even a wedding scene featuring Glinda and Fiyero. Fans will also be thrilled to hear a snippet of For Good, the iconic duet between the two witches.
Perhaps the most intriguing moment? A brief but unmistakable shot of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion making their way down the Yellow Brick Road. Meanwhile, Fiyero is seen aiming a pistol at the Wizard, hinting at the intense climax to come. The trailer ends with a powerful final line from Elphaba: “I’m off to see the Wizard,” as she soars into the sky.
While Universal has yet to announce when the Wicked: For Good trailer will be released to the public, its premiere at CinemaCon suggests it won’t be long before fans get their next magical glimpse. With the film set to hit theatres on November 21, 2025, the countdown to Oz’s grand finale has officially begun.
