Fans of The Walking Dead are mourning the loss of Kelley Mack, who has died aged just 33 following a battle with cancer.
Kelley, best known for playing Addy in Season 9 of the hit AMC zombie drama, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening surrounded by her loving family.
Her death was announced in a heartfelt Instagram post on her official page, which read:
“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley.
Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.
Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her loving mother Kristen and steadfast aunt Karen present.
Kelley has already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies.
She will be missed by so many to depths that words cannot express.”
A Rising Star Gone Too Soon
Born in 1991, Kelley began her acting career with a number of short films and television appearances before landing her breakout role in The Walking Dead as Addy, a member of the Highwaymen group who became a fan favourite.
Her talent and screen presence soon led to roles beyond the world of zombies. She starred as Alice in the psychological thriller Broadcast Signal Intrusion, played Penelope Jacobs in Chicago Med, and took on multiple independent film projects.
Earlier this year, Kelley appeared alongside Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas in the comedy-drama Universal, which premiered on June 21.
Courage in the Face of Illness
Kelley revealed in September 2024 that she had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and was undergoing aggressive treatment. Despite her illness, she remained positive and continued to connect with her fans through social media, sharing moments of gratitude and hope.
Her openness about her health inspired many, with fans praising her bravery and strength during an unimaginably difficult time.
