TOWIE bosses are pulling out all the stops for the show’s 15th anniversary, treating the cast to a lavish two-week getaway at a five-star resort in Portugal’s Algarve, a trip said to be costing a whopping £150,000.
Fan-favourite cast members are set to jet off next month to soak up the sun and drama in style, with luxury accommodation and plenty of entertainment planned. But behind the scenes, tensions are already brewing.
Ella Rae Wise, one of the show’s most popular stars, has found herself at the centre of controversy after she dumped boyfriend Dan Edgar off-screen, just days before joining Celebrity Big Brother. Her decision has left TOWIE producers furious, with one insider revealing that her place on the trip was nearly at risk.
A source told The Sun: "There’s going to be no expense spared on the TOWIE trip this year as the cast celebrate making it 15 years since its launch. The slap-up hotel will be a welcome change in location for the stars after the last dramatic series."
The insider added: "There have been ongoing discussions about Ella going on the trip after she dumped Dan off-screen. It causes a major headache for producers who would have ideally wanted their split recorded instead of Celebrity Big Brother benefiting from the storyline."
Despite the backstage drama, it is expected that Ella will still join the rest of the cast in Portugal. However, sources say she has "ruffled feathers" with her off-script antics and may have some making up to do.
Fans of the reality series can look forward to sun-soaked scenes, glamorous parties, and plenty of fireworks as the TOWIE cast celebrates the milestone anniversary.
