TOM JONES: STAR CANCELS CONCERT

Sir Tom Jones has cancelled a concert in Germany at the last minute after falling ill, leaving his loyal fans devastated.

Music lovers in Bremen were looking forward to seeing the Welsh icon perform tonight (Wednesday) at the city’s ÖVB Arena, but the 85-year-old was forced to pull out just hours before he was due on stage.

In a heartfelt message shared on his official social media accounts, Tom revealed that he has contracted an upper respiratory infection, which requires treatment and rest. The show has now been rescheduled for Monday 28 July.

“Hello to all the fans in Bremen,” his statement began. “Unfortunately, I must postpone my show this evening, as I’ve contracted an upper respiratory infection that needs treatment and rest. I know this is really disappointing and will cause inconvenience to you all, and I’m very sorry about that.”

“But the show will now go ahead on Monday 28th July, so I look forward to seeing you then. All tickets will remain valid for the re-scheduled date. Until then, thank you for your understanding. Love, Tom.”

Fans who had already begun gathering near the venue earlier in the day expressed their sadness at the news but also sent the singer their well-wishes for a speedy recovery.

One commented: “Your health comes first, Tom. Rest up and come back stronger, we’ll still be here on Monday!” Another added: “We’ve waited this long to see you, another few days won’t hurt. Take care of yourself.”

Tom Jones has been delighting audiences around Europe this summer with his “Ages & Stages” tour, celebrating his remarkable 60-year career in music. Known for timeless hits like Delilah, It’s Not Unusual, She’s A Lady and Green Green Grass of Home, the star shows no signs of slowing down despite his advancing years.

In recent interviews, Tom has said he’s determined to keep performing as long as his voice allows. “Singing keeps me young,” he told one interviewer earlier this year. “It’s what I was born to do.”

Tonight’s cancellation is a rare setback for the veteran entertainer, who has prided himself on his professionalism throughout his long career. His team confirmed that no other dates on the tour are currently affected, and he is expected to be back on stage for his next scheduled performance after the Bremen rescheduled date.

Sir Tom was knighted in 2006 for his services to music and remains one of Britain’s most beloved performers.
