It’s official, The Simpsons are heading back to the big screen.
Twentieth Century Studios has confirmed that a brand-new Simpsons movie is in development, with a scheduled release date of July 23, 2027. The announcement comes almost exactly two decades after the original film premiered in 2007, drawing millions of fans to cinemas around the world.
A Donut-Shaped Teaser
The studio broke the news on social media with a teaser image that perfectly captured the humour and charm of Springfield. The visual featured Homer Simpson’s fist clutching a pink glazed donut, this time topped with “number two” sprinkles, confirming the long-rumoured sequel.
Unsurprisingly, the reveal set off a wave of excitement and debate online. One fan took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted: “Whoohoo! I grew up with the show and especially the movie. I’m so stoked, this is one of my most anticipated movies coming up.”
Others were quick to joke about the long gap between films, with one reply reading: “It only took 20 years, great job.”
