Strictly Come Dancing favourite Katya Jones is stepping into a brand-new spotlight, this time, behind the judging desk and across the Channel.
The professional dancer, who has been dazzling audiences with her talent and charisma on the BBC’s flagship dance show since 2016, has just announced she’s taking on a major international role. Katya will be joining the judging panel on Dancing with the Stars Belgium, marking her debut as a judge on the iconic global dance franchise.
Sharing the exciting news with fans via Instagram, the 34-year-old performer wrote: “I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be joining Dancing with the Stars Belgium as a judge! It’s time to bring my passion and knowledge to the panel and celebrate the art of dance that unites us all, celebrates diversity and brings people together.”
The announcement marks a significant milestone in Katya’s career, as she transitions from professional dancer and choreographer to expert adjudicator, a move many fans and fellow dancers see as a natural next step for the multi-talented performer.
Katya is no stranger to the pressures and triumphs of televised dance competitions. She famously lifted the Glitterball Trophy with her then-partner Joe McFadden in 2017 and has since become one of Strictly’s most recognisable and fearless pros, known for her high-concept routines and boundless creativity.
Her appointment to the Belgian version of the show signals the growing global influence of the Strictly brand and the international reputation Katya has built through her years on British television. As Belgium continues its own version of the dance show, her presence on the panel is expected to add a new level of technical insight and showbiz sparkle.
While it’s not yet confirmed what this new role means for her future on Strictly Come Dancing in the UK, fans have been quick to share their support and excitement over the announcement, with many commenting that she is "perfect for the job."
Katya’s new judging gig also highlights how her career continues to evolve beyond the dancefloor. From choreography and mentoring to now critiquing performances on an international stage, her influence in the world of dance continues to grow, and she shows no sign of slowing down.
For now, though, it’s Belgium’s turn to experience the Katya magic.
