Stormzy is once again proving he’s more than just a rapper, he’s a full-blown creative powerhouse. His latest venture? A visually stunning short film, released exclusively on Prime Video, that was shot entirely on an iPhone.
Yes, you read that right, the award-winning grime artist has just raised the bar for storytelling with “Big Man”, a 12-minute emotional rollercoaster that dives into themes of identity, resilience, and mental health.
Shot in collaboration with director Edem Wornoo, who previously worked with Stormzy on the acclaimed “Mel Made Me Do It” music video, the film follows the journey of a young Black man navigating life in London. It’s poetic, raw, and deeply moving, and the fact that it was captured using nothing but an iPhone makes it even more impressive.
Speaking about the project, Stormzy said: “I wanted to show that creativity doesn’t need limits. This story deserved to be told in a way that feels intimate, real, and unfiltered, and sometimes the simplest tools help you do that best.”
The film has already received rave reviews for its cinematography, pacing, and message, not to mention the groundbreaking approach to shooting with mobile tech. Apple even shared behind-the-scenes footage showing how the iPhone’s cinematic mode was used to capture dramatic depth and detail.
