Sting Praises “Beautiful” Choir Cover of ‘Fragile’ in Netflix’s Adolescence

Music legend Sting has heaped praise on a haunting new rendition of his 1988 song Fragile, featured in the hit Netflix drama Adolescence. The powerful choral version brings fresh emotional depth to the track and soundtracks the poignant closing scene of episode two, and according to Sting himself, it’s “beautiful.”

The reimagined version of Fragile is performed by 14-year-old actor Emilia Holliday, who plays murdered schoolgirl Katie Leonard in the series, along with the real-life choir from Minsthorpe Community College in South Elmsall, West Yorkshire, the very school where the episode was filmed. Conducted by Aaron May and David Ridley, the stirring performance has quickly struck a chord with viewers and fans alike.

Taking to social media to share the scene, Sting expressed his admiration for the cover and those involved. “The reaction to the cover of my song, Fragile, in the new Netflix series Adolescence has been fantastic,” he wrote. “It’s always interesting for me to hear one of my songs through someone else’s lens. A great cover can reveal things about a song that I didn’t originally see and give a song a new life.”

The Police frontman, who originally released Fragile as a solo single from his second album …Nothing Like The Sun, continued his tribute to the young cast and choir: “Emilia Holliday and the students of the Minsthorpe Community College Choir are incredibly talented. Together they have created something beautiful.”

The cover has become an emotional highlight of the series, adding depth to an already heartbreaking moment in the storyline and resonating with audiences both for its musical quality and the real-world setting in which it was recorded.

Adolescence, which follows the impact of a violent crime on a tight-knit Yorkshire community, has received critical acclaim for its sensitive storytelling and strong performances. Holliday’s role , and now her vocal performance, has added even more to the emotional weight of the drama.

Fans of both the show and Sting’s music have flooded social media with praise for the rendition, echoing the artist’s sentiments and calling it one of the series’ standout moments. For many, the version of Fragile featured in Adolescence has introduced the song to a new generation, all while reminding long-time fans of its timeless message and emotional power.
