Sean Lennon, the son of legendary Beatles icon John Lennon, has backtracked on his previous comments about actress Rachel Zegler, admitting that his remark calling her a “spoiled brat” was “silly.”
The controversy started when Lennon criticised Zegler for her outspoken views on Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White, in which she plays the titular role. Zegler had publicly shared her frustrations with aspects of the classic story and the direction Disney was taking, leading to heated online debates. Lennon had initially sided with critics who accused the actress of being dismissive of the film’s legacy, but he now appears to be softening his stance.
In a new statement, Lennon clarified his position and praised Zegler’s talents. “It was a silly thing for me to say,” he admitted. “She’s an incredibly talented actress, and I regret making that comment in the way that I did.”
Zegler, best known for her breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, has yet to respond to Lennon’s latest remarks. However, the back-and-forth highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding Snow White and the broader conversation about modern adaptations of classic stories.
As Disney moves forward with its highly anticipated remake, all eyes remain on Zegler and how she will bring the iconic princess to life on the big screen.
