Sabrina Carpenter Wants to Ban Phones at Her Gigs – And Her Reason Might Surprise You

Sabrina Carpenter has been riding high on the success of her Short n’ Sweet era, but there’s one thing she’s seriously considering changing about her shows: your phone use.

In a candid interview this week, the “Espresso” hitmaker revealed she’s thinking about banning mobile phones from her concerts altogether, saying that it not only enhances the fan experience, but saves her from awkward camera zooms.

“When people aren’t trying to get the perfect shot or video, they’re more present. It’s just a better vibe,” she said.
“Also… not gonna lie, some of y’all zoom in WAY too close on my face, and it’s not the most flattering.”

While Sabrina delivered her comments with her signature humour, she made it clear the issue is something she takes seriously. “I perform my heart out every night, and when I look out and see a sea of phones instead of faces, it does hit differently.”

Artists like Jack White, Alicia Keys, and Bob Dylan have previously banned phones at their gigs, and even Beyoncé implemented strict recording rules during parts of her Renaissance Tour. Carpenter might be the next to follow suit.

Fan reactions are mixed. While many agreed with Sabrina’s point, others say they love documenting their concert experiences.

One fan tweeted: “Honestly I’d love to just enjoy the show without worrying about filming. Let’s go back to screaming and dancing!”
Another wrote: “But what if I need to remember the moment forever?”

Sabrina’s move could signal a wider shift in how artists want their live shows experienced, more connection, less distraction.

No official ban has been announced yet, but the pop princess says she’s “strongly considering” implementing phone-free zones or using Yondr pouches, which lock phones during performances.

With her popularity continuing to soar and a world tour on the horizon, don’t be surprised if Sabrina’s next gig has you living in the moment, like it’s 2005 again.
