The backlash started on June 12, when Carpenter unveiled the provocative cover for her new album Man’s Best Friend. The imagery includes a shot of a dog with a collar reading the album title, and another of Sabrina on all fours, her hair being pulled by an unseen figure.
The internet exploded almost instantly. Some praised the edgy visuals, while others slammed it as overly sexualised and demeaning to women, igniting days of heated debate on social media.
Critics questioned the message behind the imagery, accusing Carpenter of relying too heavily on sexual visuals instead of substance. One viral post on X ,formerly Twitter, read:
“Does she have a personality outside of sex?”
It didn’t take long for Sabrina to clap back with a cheeky retort:
“girl yes and it is goooooood.”
