SPACEBALLS SEQUEL CONFIRMED, MEL BROOKS RETURNS WITH FAN-FAVOURITES

Comedy legend Mel Brooks is set to bring back the cult classic Spaceballs, nearly four decades after it first spoofed sci-fi’s biggest franchises.

Brooks, who turns 99 this month, announced the sequel on Bluesky with a nod to the original: “I told you we’d be back.”

He’s set to reprise his role as Yogurt, the parody version of Yoda from Star Wars, in a new film directed by Josh Greenbaum (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, Strays).

Deadline reports that original stars Rick Moranis and Bill Pullman are in talks to return, and rising star Keke Palmer is also set to join the cast.

Spaceballs was initially released in 1987 and received a mixed reception, but over time became a beloved favourite for its outrageous humour and endless quotability.

Greenbaum’s addition signals a fresh comedic twist, but fans can expect plenty of callbacks to the original.

Plot details are under wraps, but sources hint at a new galaxy-spanning quest, updated parodies, and of course, more intergalactic laughs.

With Mel Brooks at the helm and original cast members possibly aboard, Spaceballs 2 might just go to ludicrous speed all over again.
