The 64-year-old music mogul and Britain’s Got Talent judge shocked fans when he pulled up alongside a car on a busy high street, wearing a large puffer jacket despite the UK’s scorching 30+ degree heatwave. The unexpected sighting caused quite the stir, not least because Cowell openly admitted to being lost on his afternoon ride.
The moment was caught on camera and has since gone viral on TikTok, racking up nearly half a million likes. In the now-famous clip, one of the car passenger’s shouts, “Yes, Simon!” while the other incredulously exclaims: “Are you really on a bike? I can’t believe it!”
Appearing slightly bemused but in good spirits, Simon slowed his bike to chat with the pair and confessed, “Well, I got lost, but it’s quicker!” before flashing his trademark smile and giving a thumbs up. He then pedalled off in front of the car, leaving the duo in a state of giddy disbelief.
While fans were amused by the unusual encounter, others voiced concern for Cowell’s safety, pointing out that he wasn’t wearing a helmet and seemed a little disoriented. One social media user commented, “Simon Cowell cycling lost in a coat during a heatwave is peak British chaos.”
The incident has reminded fans of Cowell’s dramatic e-bike accident in 2020, which left him with a broken back. Since then, he’s often spoken about the role of cycling in his fitness journey, though many are now hoping he adds a helmet to his cycling kit.
