'SCANDALOUS!' Liam Gallagher SLAMS Closure of Iconic Venue The Leadmill

Liam Gallagher has blasted the decision to close Sheffield’s iconic Leadmill venue, calling it "scandalous" after the owners lost a long-running court battle against eviction.

The legendary live music venue, which has hosted some of the biggest names in the industry, including Oasis, Coldplay, and the Arctic Monkeys, has been ordered to vacate its historic premises within the next three months. The closure will result in the loss of 70 jobs and marks the end of an era for Sheffield’s longest-running music venue and nightclub.

Liam Gallagher, the Oasis frontman known for his outspoken views, expressed his anger on social media following the news, telling his followers: "This is absolutely scandalous. The Leadmill is a legendary venue, a proper institution. These landlords need to have a word with themselves."

The Leadmill, which originally opened in 1980, has a rich history as a hub for live music. The building itself has been a home for music royalty even before that, having been known as The Esquire in the 1960s, where it hosted iconic acts like Jimi Hendrix and Small Faces.

The current owners have been embroiled in a bitter dispute with the building’s landlords, Electric Group, which purchased the property in 2017. Despite years of legal battles and an appeal against a February ruling in favour of the landlords, the owners of The Leadmill have now confirmed they must vacate the premises.

In a statement, The Leadmill’s owners said: "We are heartbroken to announce that we have lost our court appeal and must leave the building within the next three months. We want to thank our incredible team and all the amazing artists who have performed here over the years."

Fans and musicians alike have expressed their outrage over the decision, with many taking to social media to share their memories of the iconic venue and to call for action to save it.
