Rihanna has revealed her go-to karaoke song, and fans are loving her unexpected choice.
The global superstar was attending the blue carpet premiere of the new Smurfs live-action musical movie in Brussels, Belgium, when she was asked what track she picks when she’s handed a microphone at karaoke.
Her answer? Burning Blue by Mariah The Scientist.
The soulful ballad became a breakout hit for Mariah The Scientist earlier this year, peaking at Number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and marking the R&B singer’s highest charting single to date.
For Rihanna, the song clearly struck a chord, and fans of both artists are thrilled to see one powerhouse championing another.
An unexpected but powerful choice
When asked on the blue carpet, Rihanna smiled and didn’t hesitate before answering. “It’s got to be Burning Blue,” she said. “It’s just such a beautiful, emotional song, and you can really pour yourself into it.”
The choice surprised many, as the Barbadian singer herself boasts one of the most iconic back catalogues in pop and R&B. But rather than opting for one of her own anthems, Rihanna’s pick shines a light on a rising talent.
Social media quickly lit up after her comments. Fans praised her for supporting another female artist and introducing a mainstream audience to Mariah The Scientist’s music.
“Rihanna shouting out Mariah The Scientist is iconic,” wrote one fan on X.
“If RiRi sings Burning Blue at karaoke then I definitely need to add it to mine,” said another.
Her big blue night
Rihanna was at the Brussels premiere not just as a guest, but as one of the creative forces behind the Smurfs movie. She co-produced the live-action/animated musical and also stars as the voice of Smurfette in the family film, which is set for release later this year.

Speaking to reporters, she said:
“This project has been so much fun from start to finish. Bringing Smurfette to life and working on the music has been such a creative journey. And tonight is just the start!”
Dressed in a striking all-blue gown in honour of the occasion, Rihanna posed with fellow cast members, signed autographs for fans, and even sang a quick snippet of Burning Blue when prompted by reporters.
With her karaoke choice making headlines and her big-screen project almost ready for release, it seems Rihanna is showing no signs of slowing down, and her ability to champion other artists while staying on top of her game is just another reason why she remains one of the world’s most admired stars.
