He’s back and louder than ever! Robbie Williams has officially announced the release of his first studio album in nearly a decade, and it’s a full-throttle tribute to one of the UK’s most iconic music eras. Titled ‘BRITPOP’, the album sees the former Take That frontman dive headfirst into the raw, guitar-fuelled spirit of the 1990s, and he’s bringing some legendary company along for the ride.
The album’s lead single, ‘Rocket’, dropped alongside the announcement and features none other than Tony Iommi, the legendary guitarist and founding member of Black Sabbath. The collaboration is as unexpected as it is thrilling, fusing Robbie’s pop flair with Iommi’s unmistakable rock edge.
“It was the peak of Britpop and a golden age for British music,” Robbie explained in a statement, hinting that the record will be packed with nostalgic nods to the genre that defined a generation. “I’ve worked with some of my heroes on this album; it’s raw, there are more guitars, and it’s even more upbeat and anthemic than usual.”
Fans can expect a return to Robbie’s more energetic, swagger-filled sound, with the artist promising plenty of throwback vibes blended with his signature pop punch. “There’s some ‘Brit’ in there and there’s certainly some ‘pop’ too,” he said, adding, “I’m immensely proud of this as a body of work and I’m excited for fans to hear this album.”
The excitement doesn’t stop there, Robbie also confirmed plans for a ‘BRITPOP’ tour, kicking off right here in the UK, which he teased as the perfect setting to bring this era-inspired record to life. “I can’t wait to perform a song or two from it on my upcoming ‘BRITPOP’ tour,” he said. “Which I’m opening in the UK, naturally.”
This latest project marks Robbie’s return to the spotlight in a major way. While he’s remained a mainstay in British pop culture, ‘BRITPOP’ is his first full-length studio release since 2016’s The Heavy Entertainment Show. And if ‘Rocket’ is anything to go by, fans are in for a high-energy, guitar-driven journey that blends nostalgia with new fire.
