RIP: LEGENDARY FASHION ICON GIORGIO ARMANI DIES AT 91

The world of fashion is mourning the loss of one of its greatest icons. Giorgio Armani, the Italian designer who revolutionised modern fashion with his timeless, elegant designs, has died at the age of 91.

The Armani Group confirmed the sad news in a heartfelt statement, announcing his passing “with infinite sorrow.” Armani died peacefully, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a global legacy that transcends runways, red carpets, and the boundaries of style.

“In this company, we have always felt like part of a family,” the Armani Group said in its statement. “Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication, but it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love.”

Armani was one of the most influential figures in fashion, renowned for his sleek tailoring and understated sophistication. His designs defined the power suit of the 1980s and became a staple of Hollywood red carpets for decades. From Richard Gere’s crisp Armani looks in American Gigolo to countless celebrities at the Oscars, Armani’s work embodied refinement and effortless glamour.

Tributes have poured in from across the fashion and entertainment world. Fellow designer Donatella Versace responded to the Armani Group’s announcement with a broken heart emoji, a simple yet poignant symbol of the loss felt in Italy’s fashion capital. Actress Alice Pagani expressed her gratitude, writing: “Forever grateful to have met you.”

Italian TV personality Simona Ventura shared a heartfelt message on X, declaring: “Giorgio, you are and will always be our KING. Thank you for making us feel proud to be ITALIAN! I love you.”

The designer was not only a pioneer in style but also a businessman who transformed Armani into a global empire, spanning fashion, fragrances, accessories, interior design, and even hotels. Despite his immense success, Armani was known for his modest and disciplined lifestyle, preferring to focus on work rather than fame.

Throughout his life, Armani received numerous awards and honours, cementing his status as one of the greatest fashion minds of all time. His designs will forever remain synonymous with elegance, minimalism, and Italian pride.

A funeral chamber will be set up on Saturday and Sunday in Milan, the Armani Group confirmed, allowing the public to pay their respects. A private funeral for family and close friends will follow at an undisclosed date.

As the world bids farewell to Giorgio Armani, his influence will continue to live on through the generations of designers he inspired and the timeless creations that will forever carry his name.
