Rihanna has officially made her long-awaited return to music, dropping her first new song in three years today. Titled ‘Friend Of Mine,’ the track has been released as part of the soundtrack for the upcoming Smurfs Movie, where the superstar also lends her voice to a major character.
The singer, known for chart-topping hits like ‘Umbrella’ and ‘Diamonds,’ took to social media to break the news, sending fans into a frenzy. The announcement comes after months of speculation, following the first tease of new Rihanna music in a trailer for the Smurfs Movie released in February.
"So excited for you all to hear ‘Friend Of Mine,’" Rihanna wrote in a post to her millions of followers. "It's been a journey, but I'm back!"
The new track marks Rihanna’s first release since October 2022, when she dropped ‘Lift Me Up’ for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. That song, a heartfelt ballad, was a major success and was even nominated for an Academy Award.
