Phil Collins Hospitalised But Not in Hospice Care, Confirms Spokesperson

Music legend Phil Collins is in hospital, but his spokesperson has confirmed that he is not in hospice care, shutting down alarming speculation that the Genesis frontman was approaching the end of his life.

The 73-year-old singer, drummer, and songwriter has faced a string of serious health issues in recent years, fuelling ongoing concern among fans and the media. Over the past week, social media rumours began circulating claiming the “In the Air Tonight” singer had been moved to an end-of-life facility, prompting widespread panic among his global fanbase.

However, his team has now issued a statement to The Evening Standard, clarifying the truth behind his latest hospital stay.

“Phil Collins is currently in hospital undergoing knee surgery,” a representative said. “He is not in a hospice, and there is no end-of-life care involved. These reports are completely false.”

The news will come as a relief to millions of fans who have watched Collins’ health decline in recent years. He has been open about his struggles with mobility and nerve damage, which left him unable to play the drums and often confined to a wheelchair. During the final Genesis tour in 2022, Collins remained seated for the entirety of the show, a visual reminder of how much his body has endured over the years.

In a recent documentary, Collins made a particularly emotional statement, suggesting he had “used up his air miles,” leading many to believe he may have been preparing for the worst. This, combined with the online speculation, added fuel to the hospice rumours.

But friends close to the star have reassured fans that while Phil’s body may be slowing down, his spirit remains strong, and his current hospitalisation is simply a routine procedure, not a sign of something more serious.

Collins’ career has spanned over five decades, both as a solo artist and as the drummer and lead singer of Genesis. He has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, earned multiple Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Fans have flooded social media with well-wishes since the false reports emerged, with many urging others not to spread unverified news.

“He gave us a soundtrack to our lives, now it’s time to give him space to heal,” one fan posted on X.
