PAUL WELLER: WHY MODFATHER WON’T SEE OASIS ON TOUR

As Oasis’s long-awaited reunion tour continues to make headlines and pack out stadiums, one of British music’s most respected figures has revealed why he’s decided to give it a miss.

Paul Weller, often referred to as The Modfather, has admitted that he won’t be in the crowd at any of the shows, even though the iconic band are back on stage and even his mate Noel Gallagher is involved.

Speaking in a recent interview, the former Jam and Style Council frontman opened up about his distaste for large-scale live shows, explaining that he prefers more intimate gigs where he can actually connect with the performers.

“I’ve not been to see Oasis, no,” he said.
“I’m not a big fan of big gigs. I said to Noel, a few weeks or months ago: ‘Are you going to do any warm-ups?’ which he wasn’t, but I’d go and see something like that in a smaller venue. I just don’t like big gigs. It doesn’t matter who it is, really.”

While the Oasis reunion tour has been one of the most talked-about events of the yea, selling out massive venues across the UK and Europe,Weller remains steadfast in his opinion.

“Inevitably, it doesn’t matter too much where you’re sitting unless you’re right in the front row. You just end up watching the screens.
It kind of spoils it for me, because I want to see whoever is playing or singing, and I want to be able to see them.”

Still Friends, Just Not Front Row

Despite not attending, there’s clearly no bad blood between Weller and Noel Gallagher. The two have long enjoyed a mutual respect, with Weller even performing with Noel on occasion in the past. But for Weller, the magic of live music lies in smaller venues, not massive crowds and big screens.

His comments are a reminder that for some, even the biggest events on the music calendar don’t always hit the right note, especially when they lose the intimacy that makes live music special.

Meanwhile, Oasis’s reunion tour continues to receive rave reviews from fans and critics alike. From Manchester to Milan, Liam and Noel Gallagher are back doing what they do best, proving that the band’s music still has the power to bring generations together.
