Olivia Rodrigo Stuns Hyde Park Crowd with Surprise Ed Sheeran Duet Ahead of Glastonbury Set

Olivia Rodrigo fans were treated to an unforgettable moment during her British Summer Time (BST) Hyde Park performance, when the Guts star welcomed surprise guest Ed Sheeran to the stage.

Performing to a packed crowd under the sunny London skies, the 22-year-old pop sensation delivered a powerful set filled with chart-topping hits such as vampire, good 4 u, and drivers license. But it was a heartfelt collaboration with one of Britain’s biggest music stars that truly stole the show.

Rodrigo, dressed in a glittering black sequinned leotard, shocked the audience when she introduced Sheeran as “one of the best songwriters of all time.” The crowd erupted as the Shape of You hitmaker walked onto the stage, guitar in hand, for an emotional acoustic rendition of his 2011 breakout single The A Team.

Fans watched in awe as the two artists blended their vocals beautifully, turning the iconic track into a once-in-a-lifetime duet. Sheeran had been spotted earlier watching Rodrigo’s set from the wings, before she invited him to join her for the surprise moment.

Taking to Instagram afterwards, Sheeran wrote: "Been a fan of Olivia’s since ‘drivers license’ blew my mind at the start of 2021. Both her albums are no skips for me. I’m a proper fan. Was gonna go watch the show anyway, but she hit me up and asked to sing ‘The A Team’ with her, which was such a buzz."

He added: "That song turns 15 this year, and I remember playing it to empty rooms in 2010. So to still be singing it to new fans, alongside one of the brightest stars of the next generation, is an honour and a privilege."

With her headline appearance at Glastonbury now just hours away, Olivia is already making waves on British soil. Her booking, alongside The 1975 and Lewis Capaldi, is reportedly part of organisers’ plans to appeal to a younger audience, with a source telling the Daily Mail:
"There were concerns the festival would be dominated by ‘wrinkly rockers,’ but Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975 are massive names with huge youth appeal."

Whether you’re a Gen Z fan or a millennial who remembers when The A Team first hit the airwaves, this BST moment was one for the ages, and has only heightened excitement for what Olivia will bring to the Glasto stage
