OZZY OSBOURNE: BLACK SABBATH LEGEND WANTS TO WORK WITH MACCA

Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he’d love to collaborate with none other than Sir Paul McCartney, calling the opportunity an "honour" and praising the former Beatle as one of his lifelong musical heroes.

The Black Sabbath frontman made the heartfelt admission during a new episode of his Ozzy Speaks podcast on SiriusXM, when co-host Billy Morrison asked which artist he’d most like to record a duet with. Without missing a beat, Ozzy replied: “Paul McCartney.”

It’s no surprise. The Beatles have long been cited as a huge influence on Black Sabbath’s sound. In a 2020 interview with NME, Ozzy declared: “I was an avid, freaked-out Beatles fan. Still am.”

However, despite the desire to work together, Ozzy revealed there’s some lingering hesitation, likely rooted in a past missed opportunity.

“I would be honoured,” he said, “but I couldn’t…”

He then recalled a story about a previous attempt to get McCartney involved on a Black Sabbath track, a moment that clearly still resonates with him.

“I tried to get him to play bass on a song, but he said he couldn’t improve on the bassline that was already there. I said, ‘Are you kidding? You could p*** on the record and I’d make it my life!’”

The respect and admiration Ozzy has for McCartney is clear, and fans are now speculating whether this wish might still come true, especially with both icons still active in the music world.

Osbourne, now 75, is preparing for what’s being called the final Black Sabbath performance. The gig, titled ‘Back To The Beginning’, will take place on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, a historic moment that will reunite Ozzy with bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the first time in 20 years.

As the band returns to its roots one last time, fans are holding out hope that Ozzy’s dream duet with “Macca” might be next.

After all, when two musical titans speak the same language, anything is possible.
