Netflix Makes Hit Drama 'Adolescence' Available to UK Schools

Netflix has announced that its critically acclaimed drama Adolescence will now be available for free to all UK secondary schools, aiming to spark important discussions about toxic masculinity and healthy relationships among young audiences.

Since its release on March 13, Adolescence—which follows a father grappling with the revelation that his son is suspected of murder—has ignited widespread conversation about gender dynamics and societal pressures on young men in the UK.

In a statement shared on social media, Netflix wrote: “From today we are making Adolescence available to all secondary schools across the UK through Into Film+.” The initiative is also being supported by the charity Tender, which focuses on promoting healthy relationships. The organisation will develop teaching resources and guidance for educators, parents, and carers to help navigate sensitive discussions around the series.

The move comes as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also weighed in on the show’s impact, revealing that he watched it with his own teenage children and found it “really hard to watch.” Starmer recently hosted a meeting at Downing Street to address the growing influence of toxic online content on young people, reinforcing the importance of constructive conversations on the subject.

By making Adolescence accessible to schools, Netflix aims to use the power of storytelling to encourage meaningful dialogue and awareness around these pressing societal issues.
