The London premiere of The Naked Gun last night wasn’t just about the film, all eyes were on Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, who set tongues wagging as they walked the red carpet arm-in-arm, looking every bit the loved-up couple.
The pair, who star opposite each other in the highly anticipated reboot of the classic comedy franchise, fuelled romance rumours as they cosied up for photographers outside the Leicester Square premiere.
Fans have been speculating about the nature of their relationship since earlier this year, when Liam, 72, confessed he “loved” Pamela, 57, during a promotional interview. At the time, many assumed he was being his typically dry, self-deprecating self. But last night’s affectionate display suggests there could be more than just professional chemistry between the two stars.
Onlookers couldn’t miss the way Pamela kept leaning into Liam during their photo calls. At one point, she planted a sweet kiss on his cheek as he beamed for the cameras, and the pair held hands for much of the evening. “Liam and Pamela couldn’t keep their hands off each other,” one attendee told reporters. “It wasn’t just a show for the cameras, they genuinely seemed to be enjoying each other’s company. They looked like a couple.”
Both actors have been single in recent years, with Liam previously admitting to feeling “lonely” at times after the tragic loss of his wife Natasha Richardson in 2009. Pamela, who has been married and divorced several times, has been living a quieter life away from the spotlight in recent years, but looked radiant and happy alongside her co-star.
Naked Gun, which hits cinemas on 1 August, sees Neeson take on the role of bumbling cop Frank Drebin, while Anderson plays his glamorous and quick-witted love interest. Their undeniable chemistry in early trailers and interviews has already been a talking point among fans of the franchise.
At a press event earlier this year, Liam quipped: “I’m mad about Pam. I love her. She’s a riot to work with.” Pamela responded at the time with a coy smile and a playful: “He’s not bad himself.” Neither has officially commented on the current speculation about a romance, but after last night’s red carpet, fans are convinced it’s more than just a publicity stunt.
Social media was buzzing within minutes, with one fan tweeting: “Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson are the couple we never knew we needed!” Whether they’re Hollywood’s newest power couple or simply close friends and co-stars, their natural chemistry is undeniable, and it’s got everyone talking.
