Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is set to appear in a brand-new five-part documentary series exploring the extraordinary life and career of iconic filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
The upcoming docuseries, which promises a deep dive into Scorsese’s legendary six-decade journey through cinema, will feature exclusive interviews with many of the director’s long-time collaborators and admirers, with Jagger among the most high-profile contributors.
Jagger’s inclusion in the series is particularly fitting given his creative history with Scorsese. The two famously worked together on the 2008 concert film Shine a Light, which captured an explosive live performance by The Rolling Stones at New York’s Beacon Theatre and blended it with behind-the-scenes footage. The collaboration highlighted their shared love of music and storytelling, and formed the basis of a friendship that has endured for years.
The series, which is yet to receive an official release date, is being billed as “the definitive portrait of Martin Scorsese”, and will chart his evolution from his early days in New York’s Little Italy to becoming one of the most influential directors in cinematic history.
Fans can expect an intimate look at Scorsese’s creative process and philosophy, as well as the relationships he’s built with actors like Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, and musicians such as Jagger, Robbie Robertson, and Bob Dylan, many of whom have collaborated with him on both films and documentaries.

Jagger’s contribution will focus not only on Scorsese’s Shine a Light, but also on the director’s unique ability to capture the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll on screen. Known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of music, Scorsese has long used rock and blues as an emotional backbone in films like Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, and The Irishman.
This new series is expected to be a treasure trove for both film buffs and music lovers, offering never-before-seen footage, archival interviews, and candid reflections from the man himself.
With Mick Jagger on board and a host of other stars set to appear, the Scorsese docuseries is shaping up to be a fitting tribute to a director whose work has shaped generations, and a must-watch for fans of both cinema and rock history.
