Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has shown his appreciation for his backroom staff by personally purchasing tickets for 30 of his team members and their families to attend the upcoming Europa League final in Bilbao, Spain. This heartfelt gesture ensures that key staff members, who would have otherwise had to pay for their own tickets, can now bring along up to two family members or friends.
The situation arose when club management informed Amorim’s coaches, physios, and support team that they would need to cover the cost of their own tickets for the final against Tottenham. Unwilling to let his team miss out on sharing this special moment with their loved ones, Amorim stepped in to cover the expenses.
“The situation is simple, you know we have a lot of things, people leaving, a lot of changes in the staff, and in this moment for our club, sometimes it's hard when to give, when to take and to respect the people in certain jobs,” Amorim explained.
“It's complicated for the club to start giving tickets to other members of staff, that situation was explained and in that moment my reaction was to help. I'm a good guy and it's not going to change my life. A final is different, but you can understand this season has been really difficult, the results and the staff losing their jobs.”
Amorim’s gesture comes at a time of significant change at Manchester United, with the club facing a challenging season and staff turnover. His willingness to support his team in such a personal way has been praised by fans and staff alike, highlighting his leadership and commitment to the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Manchester United will face Tottenham in the Europa League final next week in Bilbao, with Amorim and his staff now set to share the experience with their families in the stands.
