Seattle police are investigating a harrowing break-in at rapper Macklemore’s home, during which his nanny was assaulted with bear spray by intruders.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, while the rapper was reportedly away from the property. According to The Seattle Times, two male suspects entered the residence through an unlocked patio door while the nanny was caring for Macklemore’s three children.
In a terrifying sequence of events, the intruders reportedly sprayed the nanny in the face with bear mace and demanded valuables. One of the suspects, disturbingly, helped her rinse her eyes, only to follow up with the chilling question: “Where are the jewels, b****?”
The two men then proceeded to ransack the house, stealing an assortment of valuable items including jewellery, luxury watches, and designer shoes. Reports indicate they also stole the nanny’s phone before physically assaulting her during the raid.
Demonstrating incredible bravery, the nanny managed to escape by biting one of the intruders on the hand and fleeing through a bathroom. She found refuge at a neighbour’s house, where she was able to call the police.
Authorities arrived shortly after and launched a full investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and police are appealing for any information that might lead to identifying the suspects.
Fans and colleagues of Macklemore have expressed support and concern for the family following the traumatic incident. The rapper, known for hits like “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us,” has yet to make a public statement.
This frightening break-in has sparked wider discussions around celebrity security and home invasions, especially as public figures face increasing risks both online and offline.
