Lily Allen has never shied away from being brutally honest, and her latest revelation has left fans divided and others praising her candour.
In a new interview on the Miss Me? podcast, the 39-year-old singer and actress admitted she “can’t even remember” how many abortions she’s had in the past.
The Smile star, who is now a mother of two daughters, spoke openly about her difficult choices as a young woman and the conflicting emotions she still feels about them.
“I’ve had a few abortions. I can’t even remember how many,” she said. “It was always the right thing for me at the time. But that doesn’t mean it was easy.”

Lily, who has been outspoken on women’s rights throughout her career, said she hoped her honesty would help remove some of the stigma and shame around abortion.
“It’s still something people don’t talk about enough. I made those decisions when I was in a very different place in my life, emotionally and financially. I didn’t feel I could bring a child into the world at that time,” she explained.
Now married to actor David Harbour and living in New York, Lily said motherhood has changed her perspective, but she does not regret her past decisions.
“I have two beautiful daughters now, and I love them more than anything. But back then, I knew I wasn’t ready. That doesn’t mean I don’t carry some sadness about it, though,” she admitted.
Fans on social media have been quick to react, with many praising her bravery for speaking out about a subject still considered taboo, while others expressed discomfort at her casual tone.
One follower wrote: “Thank you, Lily, for saying what so many of us feel but are too scared to say.”
Another commented: “It’s a private matter, she doesn’t owe anyone an explanation, but her honesty is admirable.”
The singer, who rose to fame with her 2006 debut album Alright, Still, has been open about her past struggles with addiction, eating disorders, and mental health, and has recently branched into acting with roles on the London stage and in TV dramas.
Her story serves as another reminder of her willingness to challenge expectations and speak up for women’s choices, even when the topic is uncomfortable.
