Lorde has sent fans into a frenzy after seemingly confirming she’ll be performing a secret set at Glastonbury 2025, just hours after dropping her long-awaited fourth album Virgin.
The New Zealand-born pop star released Virgin this morning, Friday June 27, aligning perfectly with Day 1 of the legendary Somerset festival. The timing alone sparked speculation, but it was a post to her Instagram Story that all but confirmed she’s in the UK and ready to hit the stage.
In the now-viral post, Lorde shared an aerial photo of the Woodsies tent, one of Glastonbury’s most beloved venues, fuelling rumours that she’ll take one of the two unannounced slots on Saturday.
Fans were already hopeful when they noticed several TBA (to be announced) slots still available on the official festival schedule, one on the Pyramid Stage and another at Woodsies tomorrow, plus a secret slot on The Park Stage on Saturday. Could Lorde be preparing for more than just one appearance?
This wouldn’t be the first time she’s performed a surprise set. Lorde has a history of low-key appearances and teasing her fans with cryptic clues. In a recent interview, she said she was “pretty keen” to return to Glastonbury after her 2022 performance drew critical acclaim.
Social media is already buzzing, with Glasto-goers scanning set times, maps, and wristband leaks to guess when and where she’ll appear.
Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Virgin includes tracks that feel tailor-made for a live audience, from euphoric opener “Heaven in Reverse” to the punchy alt-pop anthem “Stranger Fruit.” Lorde herself described the album as “made for stages, made for movement,” in a statement to fans this morning.

With the element of surprise now part of the Glastonbury experience, fans attending the festival are encouraged to keep their ears, and eyes, open. And for those watching from home, keep an eye on the BBC's Glasto coverage and livestreams.
If the hints are true, Lorde’s set is likely to be one of the biggest moments of this year’s festival.
