Pop royalty Kylie Minogue has been forced to postpone several upcoming tour dates after falling ill with a viral infection, just weeks before fans were set to see her live on stage.
The Padam Padam singer, 56, broke the news to fans in an emotional statement shared via social media, explaining that doctors had advised her to rest following a recent bout of illness. Kylie had been scheduled to perform a string of dates as part of her Las Vegas residency and European appearances, many of which are now being rescheduled.
“I’m absolutely gutted to have to postpone these shows,” she wrote. “I’ve been battling a viral infection and my doctors have made it clear I need complete vocal rest and time to recover. I never take cancelling lightly, your support means everything.”
The news has come as a disappointment to fans who had been eagerly awaiting her return to the stage. Tickets for the affected dates had sold out in minutes, with some fans travelling internationally to catch the Australian superstar live.
A spokesperson for Kylie’s team confirmed:
“Kylie is incredibly disappointed to have to make this decision but her health must come first. The affected shows will be rescheduled where possible, and ticket holders will be contacted directly with further information.”
Minogue’s team has not specified the exact number of shows impacted, but sources close to the star say she is “hoping to resume performances within weeks,” depending on her recovery.
Fans were quick to rally around the beloved singer, with many sending well-wishes across social media.
“Health comes first, Queen Kylie, we’ll be here when you’re ready,” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Kylie’s recent resurgence, including her viral chart hit Padam Padam, her latest album Tension, and a highly successful Vegas run, had cemented her as one of the hardest-working stars in pop, with no signs of slowing down until now.
While the news is undoubtedly disappointing, fans are relieved that the star is taking the time she needs to recover, and they’re already counting down the days until she’s back on her feet and back on stage.
