Kelly Osbourne has revealed she’s leaving all the wedding planning to her famously meticulous mum, Sharon, and she couldn’t be happier to step back.
The reality star and daughter of rock royalty announced her engagement to Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson earlier this month, after a romantic backstage proposal during Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell show at Villa Park. But when it comes to planning their big day, Kelly has confessed she’s leaving it entirely in Sharon’s capable hands.
Speaking to Closer Magazine, Kelly, 39, said: “I want nothing to do with it, because if it was up to me, we’d get married at the registry office and then take over a pub. But it is not up to me, I’m letting my mum plan it.”
The couple’s engagement came on July 6, when Sid, 47, got down on one knee backstage at her father Ozzy’s final UK gig. He presented Kelly with an eye-catching 18K yellow gold engagement ring featuring white and yellow diamonds alongside citrine accents, a design every bit as unique as the couple themselves.
Kelly and Sid’s relationship has been years in the making, with the pair reportedly having known each other for more than two decades before romance blossomed in 2022. Their bond deepened quickly, and they welcomed their first child together, son Sidney, in late 2022.
Kelly has always been known for her straight-talking approach to life, and wedding planning is no exception. She admitted she has no patience for the politics and pressure of organising a lavish celebration, saying her mother’s flair for events makes Sharon the obvious choice to take the reins.
“Mum’s so good at this kind of thing,” she added. “She knows what works and what doesn’t, I trust her completely.”
To keep the guest list authentic and avoid unnecessary drama, Kelly revealed she and Sid are planning a destination wedding.
“That way,” she explained, “only the people who really like you will come.”
Fans have applauded Kelly’s decision to delegate to Sharon, with many taking to social media to praise her honesty and practicality. One fan wrote on Instagram: “Love that you’re keeping it real, Kelly. And if anyone can throw an unforgettable wedding, it’s Sharon!”
While no date or location has been officially confirmed yet, it’s safe to say the Osbourne matriarch will deliver a day to remember, full of personality, glamour, and a touch of rock ‘n’ roll.
