Pop icon Katy Perry has boldly gone where few have gone before, straight into the cosmos, as part of a groundbreaking all-female mission with Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin space programme.
The “Firework” singer was among a six-woman crew aboard New Shepard NS-31, which launched from Blue Origin’s facilities in West Texas. The momentous flight marked not only a personal adventure for Perry but also a historic occasion for space tourism, with the star visibly thrilled from take-off to touchdown.
As the sleek rocket rose from the gantry and mission control began its countdown, Perry could be seen strapped in, beaming with anticipation. Moments later, as the rocket pierced the sky and went supersonic, cheers could be heard from inside the craft, Perry’s voice among them.
