Pop icon Katy Perry and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have officially confirmed their relationship after being spotted hand in hand at the singer’s star-studded 41st birthday celebration in Paris over the weekend.
The pair were seen arriving together at the Crazy Horse cabaret, one of the French capital’s most exclusive and iconic venues, where Perry celebrated her milestone birthday surrounded by close friends. According to onlookers, the couple appeared relaxed, smiling and chatting as they entered the venue, seemingly unfazed by the flashing cameras.
Rumours of a romance between the Firework singer and the Canadian leader first surfaced back in July, when the two were photographed attending a charity event in London. At the time, sources suggested they had developed a close bond following several high-profile meetings through mutual humanitarian causes, but both parties remained tight-lipped about the nature of their relationship.
On Saturday night, however, there was no doubt left. Perry, dressed in a chic black mini dress and heels, walked hand in hand with Trudeau, who wore a smart suit and a warm smile as the pair entered the Parisian venue.
An insider speaking to Us Weekly earlier this week claimed that Perry is “really into” her new partner and has been enjoying spending time with him away from the public eye.
“Katy is really into it. She’s very happy,” the source shared. “She’s trying to keep it low-key, and they’ve spent a lot of private time together. She’s not looking to publicize this relationship.”
The insider added that while Perry’s inner circle supports the relationship, Trudeau has yet to meet many of her close friends:
“Their friends think they’re a good match, but he actually hasn’t met a lot of her friends yet.”
Perry’s Paris birthday bash was said to be a small, private affair, attended by a select group of friends and colleagues. Guests were reportedly treated to champagne and live performances as they toasted the singer’s big day, and her new romance.
The sighting marks Perry’s first public relationship since her split from actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a daughter, Daisy Dove, born in 2020. Trudeau, meanwhile, announced his separation from his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
Fans have taken to social media to share their surprise, and intrigue, over the pairing, which many have called “unexpected but fascinating.” One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote:
“Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau? Didn’t have that on my 2025 bingo card, but somehow it works!”
Another added:
“They both have a passion for humanitarian work and global issues, it actually makes sense when you think about it.”
While neither Perry nor Trudeau has commented publicly on their relationship, their Paris appearance all but confirms what fans have been speculating for months. And if their smiles at the Crazy Horse were anything to go by, this could be one of 2025’s most talked-about celebrity romances.
