Jessie J Rushed to Hospital with Lung Complications Weeks After Cancer Surgery

Singer-songwriter Jessie J has shared a worrying health update with fans, revealing she was rushed to hospital after developing fluid on her lungs, just six weeks after undergoing surgery for breast cancer.

The 36-year-old star had only recently been celebrating positive news, telling followers last month that doctors had caught her cancer “early,” allowing her to undergo treatment and surgery swiftly. She has been open about her recovery process, sharing candid posts on social media in an effort to keep her fans informed.

However, yesterday Jessie took to Instagram Stories with an unexpected and concerning update. Posting a photo from her hospital bed showing an IV cannula inserted in her hand, she explained:

“How I spent the last 24 hours… Six weeks post-surgery and I was back in the same ward I was after my surgery. Not expected or planned.”

Jessie revealed that her symptoms initially led doctors to suspect a potentially life-threatening blood clot on her lung, a complication sometimes seen after major surgery.

Thankfully, further tests ruled out a blood clot. Instead, doctors diagnosed her with an infection and fluid build-up in her lungs, which required urgent treatment and observation.

“I had and still have symptoms that pointed towards a blood clot on the lung. IT IS NOT A BLOOD CLOT THANK GOD,” she reassured her fans.

The “Price Tag” hitmaker has been inundated with messages of love and support from her 13 million Instagram followers since sharing her update. Many praised her openness about her cancer journey and admired her resilience in facing yet another health scare.

Jessie J has long been known for her determination, both in her career and personal life. In recent years, she’s spoken candidly about her struggles with fertility and health, and now, her willingness to speak publicly about her cancer battle has helped shine a light on the importance of early detection.

In an earlier post about her diagnosis, Jessie stressed the importance of regular health checks, saying:

“Please, please go to your check-ups, do your self-exams, and speak to your doctor if something feels off. Catching this early has made all the difference for me.”

Although Jessie didn’t confirm how long she would remain in hospital this time, she appeared in relatively good spirits in her posts, even managing to thank the medical staff who have been caring for her.

“I’m so grateful for the doctors and nurses looking after me. You are the real MVPs.”

Her fans will no doubt be relieved to hear that she’s receiving treatment and is on the road to recovery once again. For now, Jessie is expected to continue resting while her medical team monitors her condition.
