Jessie J Diagnosed with Early-Stage Breast Cancer: 'I'm Going to Disappear for a Bit'

British pop star Jessie J has revealed she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer and will undergo surgery later this month. The 37-year-old singer shared the news in an emotional Instagram video on June 3, explaining that she received the diagnosis shortly before the release of her single "No Secrets" in April.

“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” she said. “Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’.”

Jessie plans to perform at Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, June 15, before stepping away from the spotlight to focus on her recovery. In her video, she maintained her characteristic humour, joking about the situation and referencing her recent singles.

The singer emphasised the importance of early detection and expressed her desire to connect with others going through similar experiences. “It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse, that’s the bit that kills me,” she said.

Jessie J has faced several health challenges in the past, including a heart condition diagnosed at age eight, a minor stroke at 18, and Ménière’s disease in 2020. She also experienced a miscarriage in 2021 before welcoming her son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, in 2023 with partner Chanan Colman.

Despite her diagnosis, Jessie remains optimistic and plans to return to music after her recovery. She is scheduled to begin her UK and European "No Secrets Tour" later this year.

Fans and fellow artists have praised Jessie for her openness and bravery in sharing her diagnosis. Her candidness serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection and the strength found in community support.

As Jessie J takes time to focus on her health, she leaves fans with a message of hope and resilience, promising to return with more music in the future
