In a dramatic legal twist, Justin Baldoni's eye-popping $400 million countersuit against Blake Lively has been officially dismissed, marking a major win for the actress and those named alongside her in the explosive case.
The lawsuit, filed by Baldoni and others associated with his production company Wayfarer Studios, was described by Lively’s team as a “retaliatory sham.” It alleged defamation, interference, and other claims following a fallout over a collaborative project. But the legal tide has turned in Lively’s favour after the court struck down the countersuit.
A representative for Blake Lively told the Daily Mail in a statement that the dismissal is a “total victory and a complete vindication.” The statement also celebrated the clearing of names such as Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds, her publicist Leslie Sloane, and The New York Times.
“From day one, this '$400 million' lawsuit was a sham, and the Court saw right through it,” the spokesperson said. “We look forward to the next round, which is seeking attorneys' fees, treble damages and punitive damages against Baldoni, Sarowitz, Nathan, and the other Wayfarer Parties who perpetrated this abusive litigation.”
As of now, Justin Baldoni and his legal team have not issued a public response to the ruling. However, the fallout is expected to ripple through both the legal and entertainment communities, with questions being raised about the aggressive nature of countersuits and the pressures of high-profile collaborations.
Baldoni, known for his roles in Jane the Virgin and for directing the It Ends With Us adaptation, has yet to comment publicly on the dismissal. The original conflict is believed to stem from behind-the-scenes tensions involving creative and business decisions, though full details remain under seal.
Lively, meanwhile, continues to thrive professionally, recently finishing filming on the upcoming thriller The Husband’s Secret. She has kept a low public profile during the court proceedings but is said to be “relieved” by the outcome.
With further legal action now being pursued by Lively’s team for damages and attorney fees, this case is far from over. But for now, the scales of justice appear to have tilted firmly in her favour.
