Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, once considered one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples, have officially finalised their divorce after 27 years of marriage.
The couple, who first announced their separation in September 2023, had filed for divorce in May of this year. Now, according to court documents, a judgment of divorce was officially entered on June 12, although the paperwork wasn’t made public until June 23.
Before the judgment was signed off, two other legal documents were submitted on June 10: a 'Qualified Medical Child Support Order', which relates to the continuation of health insurance coverage for dependents, and 'Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law', a necessary step in formalising the dissolution.
The divorce has now been legally finalised after the judge signed off on the proposed settlement terms.
The couple first met in 1995 on the set of Australian TV drama Correlli, and married the following year. Their relationship captured the hearts of many around the world, as the two often appeared side by side at red carpet events and charity functions, always praising one another in interviews.
In a statement released at the time of their split, they said: "We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
They share two adopted children together, Oscar, 24, and Ava, 19, and have always been fiercely protective of their family’s privacy.
While details of the divorce settlement have not been publicly disclosed, the process appears to have been handled respectfully and amicably.
Fans and colleagues of the couple have taken to social media to send messages of support, with many expressing heartbreak that such a seemingly strong marriage has come to an end, but also admiration for the dignified way the couple has handled it.
