HARRY POTTER SHOCK RETURN: Tom Felton IS Draco Malfoy Again, 14 Years Later

Tom Felton, who famously played the platinum-haired Slytherin in all eight Harry Potter films between 2001 and 2011, has announced his return to the Wizarding World. Over a decade since the final movie hit cinemas, Felton is set to reprise his iconic role in the hit stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The announcement came during a live interview on NBC’s Today show, where the actor shared his excitement with fans across the globe. “Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honours of my life,” he said. “Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.”

Felton will join the Broadway cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in November 2025 and is slated to appear for a 19-week run, ending in March 2026. The play, which is set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, follows Harry, Ron, Hermione, and yes, Draco, as adults, now navigating life as parents sending their own children to Hogwarts.

While the play has been a global success since its debut in 2016, Felton’s involvement marks the first time a main film cast member has stepped directly into the role on stage. And for fans, it’s a magical development that blurs the line between the big screen and the stage.

Draco Malfoy has long been one of the franchise’s most complex characters, beginning as Harry’s schoolyard nemesis but evolving into a more layered, conflicted figure by the end of the series. Felton’s performance won over millions, and his return has already sent Potterheads into a frenzy online.

It’s not yet known if any other original cast members will follow Felton’s lead, but one thing is certain: this return to the wizarding world is already shaping up to be one of Broadway’s most anticipated events.
