In a surprising revelation that’s left fans stunned, Gavin & Stacey star Ruth Jones has confirmed the end of her 26-year marriage to television producer David Peet.
The pair, who were once considered one of the most solid couples in showbiz, quietly separated 18 months ago, and are now officially legally separated. The news was only just made public in a joint statement released by the former couple, which has since made headlines across the UK and beyond.
“We amicably went our separate ways 18 months ago and are now legally separated. We remain good friends,” the statement read.
Jones, best known for her role as Nessa in the hit BBC comedy, is now living in London, while Peet has started a new chapter of his life in Canada, where he’s reportedly already in a new relationship. And here’s the twist, the tabloids are reporting that the woman he’s dating bears a striking resemblance to Ruth herself!
Jones and Peet originally met on the set of a BBC comedy pilot in the 1990s, a time when Peet was still married to someone else. The couple eventually got together and went on to become creative collaborators, producing hit TV projects including Stella.

Although the split appears to be amicable, the timing and nature of Peet’s new relationship have raised eyebrows. Despite this, Ruth seems to be focusing on her career and is reportedly working on a new project for television.
