Hollywood royalty met gridiron power this week, and it seems the NFL won. Gal Gadot, the Wonder Woman actress and international film star, has reportedly been forced to leave her luxury Hertfordshire hotel after it was taken over by the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of their UK appearance at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
Gadot, 40, is currently in the UK for reshoots on her upcoming action thriller The Runner and had been staying at the five-star Grove Hotel in Watford, a venue renowned for its stunning countryside views, fine dining, and exclusive spa facilities. The hotel, often dubbed “London’s country estate,” has previously hosted A-list guests, professional athletes, and even world leaders.
But despite her A-list status, not even Wonder Woman could compete with the full force of the NFL.
According to insiders, when the Jaguars arrived in town for their much-anticipated game, the team “completely took over” the hotel, including its world-class spa, gym, swimming pool, saunas, and steam room, forcing Gadot and her entourage to relocate.
A source told The Sun:
“Gal was living the high life in The Grove and was perfectly happy. It’s a beautiful hotel and so well-appointed. It was the perfect place for her to stay during filming. But once the Jaguars touched down, they basically took over the pool, saunas, and the steam room, there wasn’t much room for anyone else!”
The NFL team, who have become a regular fixture in the UK over the last decade, reportedly booked out the majority of the 300-room estate in preparation for their London game, leaving other high-profile guests scrambling for alternatives.
The source added:
“The Jaguars had players, coaches, and staff all staying under one roof. The team’s training and recovery facilities were the priority, which meant the spa and leisure areas were closed off to the public and other guests, including Gal.”

It’s believed that Gadot and her production team have since found alternative accommodation nearby, but not before the unexpected hotel shuffle caused quite a stir among staff and fans.
The Israeli actress has been filming in the UK for several weeks as part of The Runner, a high-octane thriller that follows a former intelligence operative caught in an international conspiracy. The movie, directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan (The Huntsman: Winter’s War), is one of Gadot’s most anticipated upcoming projects, marking a return to action after her recent Netflix hits Red Notice and Heart of Stone.
While the hotel drama may have been an inconvenience, those close to the star say she took it all in stride, maintaining her signature poise and professionalism. One crew member joked, “If anyone can handle being kicked out of a hotel by an NFL team, it’s Wonder Woman.”
The Grove, meanwhile, remains one of the UK’s go-to destinations for visiting sports teams, it’s previously hosted the England football squad, Tottenham Hotspur, and several PGA golf tournaments. With its expansive grounds, private lake, and championship golf course, it’s not hard to see why it’s a favourite among athletes, even if it sometimes leaves Hollywood stars out in the cold.
