Freddie Flintoff has delighted fans by confirming that his much-loved BBC series Field of Dreams will return, and this time, it’s bigger and bolder than ever.
The former England cricket captain first launched the inspiring series back in 2022, recruiting a group of young lads from his hometown of Preston to form an unlikely cricket team, giving them a shot at changing their lives through sport. The show quickly became a hit with audiences for its raw emotion, humour, and the bonds formed between Freddie and the boys.
Fast forward two years, and despite his horrific Top Gear crash in 2023, Freddie returned to our screens earlier this year with Field of Dreams: On Tour, taking his original squad to India for the trip of a lifetime. The special was another ratings success, earning him an RTS Award nomination and leaving viewers clamouring for more.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Freddie confirmed that filming has already wrapped on the next chapter of the series, and fans can expect even more moving stories. This time, three new teams are joining the fold: two boys’ squads from Bootle and Newton Heath, and, for the first time, a girls’ team based in Blackpool.
“All the boys are doing well,” Freddie said of his original Preston team. “But what I didn’t envisage is what I got from it. Going to India with these boys helped me so much… it’s getting bigger and bigger.”
Freddie added: “If you give kids a chance, they’re all right, aren’t they? Kids are good!”

Producers say the upcoming series reflects the show’s evolving mission to promote equality and inspire a wider audience, with the inclusion of a girls’ team marking an important milestone.
The new season of Field of Dreams is expected to air on BBC One later in 2025. For fans of heartfelt, uplifting television, it’s one not to miss.
