Monty Python alum Eric Idle, 82, recently revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that he’s been rushed into a Los Angeles hospital three times in just two days due to suspected gastroenteritis, leaving fans deeply concerned.
Idle took to social media, writing:
“So I’d like to thank all the doctors’ nurses and staff in the Cedars GI ward for their kindness and help to me today. The second time in three days. I think I’m suffering from Gastroenteritis. I love you people.”
The comedy legend, best known for creating hits like Life of Brian, Flying Circus, and co-writing Spamalot, has been vocal about his latest health scare. According to coverage by The Sun, Idle was treated in the gastroenterology ward at Cedars‑Sinai Medical Center in LA, specialising in GI conditions like stomach flu and severe inflammation.
This news arrives amid heightened tension between Idle and his fellow Monty Python members. Last year, he claimed he was seeing only a fraction of the millions the Python franchise generates, accusing Holly Gilliam,Terry Gilliam’s daughter, of mismanaging finances and selling off assets. In response, Idle’s daughter Lily publicly supported his remarks, while John Cleese acknowledged that his relationship with Idle has grown distant.
Fans have rallied online, sending messages of support and well-wishes. One preferred comment read: “Get well soon, Sir, Python history needs you!”
