Actress Samantha Giles will reprise her legendary role in the long-running ITV soap after two years away, The Sun has revealed. Her comeback will tie into the upcoming wedding of Gabby and Vinny, with filming due to kick off in just a couple of weeks.
A source close to production teased the return, saying: “Everything is being kept very hush hush but of course Bernice’s return is a big deal as one of the soap’s most loved characters. And Samantha being back among the cast is a real win too, as everyone loves working with her.”
Samantha first arrived in the Dales as Bernice back in November 1998, quickly becoming a fan favourite thanks to her fiery personality, humour, and knack for finding herself at the heart of the show’s most gripping storylines. She originally left in 2002 but has since returned for several stints, briefly in 2004, and again for a longer run from 2012 before exiting once more in 2023.
Her most recent departure saw her leave the soap to explore other creative avenues, including a theatre production of The Syndicate, but fans have never ruled out her return, and now it's finally happening.
