Ed Sheeran has opened up about his enduring friendship with Taylor Swift, revealing that the two global superstars still make time to catch up several times a year despite their hectic schedules.
Speaking in a recent interview, the British singer-songwriter shared that he and Swift, who have been close friends for over a decade, maintain their bond through regular meet-ups, even if they don’t always shout about it on social media. “I catch up with her probably four times a year, and I’ve known her for 13 years,” Sheeran said.
The pair first struck up a friendship back in 2012 when Sheeran collaborated with Swift on her Red album, co-writing and featuring on the fan-favourite track Everything Has Changed. Since then, their friendship has remained rock solid, weathering the intense demands of fame, touring, and their own evolving careers.
While both artists have gone on to become two of the most recognisable names in music, selling out stadiums, topping charts, and earning Grammy after Grammy, Sheeran insists that at the core, their relationship remains personal and grounded. Their catch-ups are more about friendship than fame.
The Shape of You star didn’t reveal where or how they usually meet, but made it clear that their conversations are kept private. “It’s always really chill,” he said. “There’s never anything for social media or for show. It’s just two friends catching up.”
Their creative chemistry has also lasted the test of time. Ed appeared on the re-recorded version of Red (Taylor’s Version) with a new version of Everything Has Changed and a previously unreleased collaboration, Run. Fans continue to speculate whether they’ll reunite again musically in the future, and given how often they stay in touch, it wouldn’t be a surprise.
