Ed Sheeran Puts His Paintings Up for Sale — for a Good Cause

Ed Sheeran has announced a brand-new creative project, but this time, it’s nothing to do with music. The chart-topping singer-songwriter is selling a collection of his own artwork to raise money for a cause close to his heart.

Teaming up with the HENI Gallery, Ed has unveiled the Cosmic Carpark Paintings, a series of colourful, abstract pieces he’s been working on quietly for years. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Ed Sheeran Foundation, which helps ensure children everywhere have access to inclusive music education.

The “Shape of You” hitmaker revealed he rediscovered his love of painting at the end of his Divide tour in 2019, after years of focusing solely on his music career.

“I started painting at the end of my Divide Tour in 2019 and it’s something I’ve used as a creative outlet ever since,” Ed shared.

The pop star added that creativity runs in his blood. “When I was growing up, both of my parents worked in art, so I’ve naturally always been interested in it,” he explained. “I always enjoyed studying art at school.”

Even while travelling the world last year for his tour, Ed found time to paint. “I was back and forth on tour last year, and I used a lot of my downtime in the UK to paint,” he said.

His favourite place to work was an unlikely one, a deserted car park in London’s Soho. “I’d run to a disused car park in Soho each morning, paint, then run home and I’d do that daily until I headed back out on tour again,” he revealed.

The paintings, which feature bold colours and cosmic, dreamlike patterns, showcase a different side to Ed’s artistry and are expected to attract interest from both music fans and art collectors alike.

All proceeds from the sales will support the Ed Sheeran Foundation’s mission to provide musical instruments and lessons to children who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity.

Fans can view and purchase the Cosmic Carpark Paintings via the HENI Gallery website now.
