Ed Sheeran has treated himself and his family to a serious slice of New York luxury, splashing out a cool £9 million on a sprawling apartment in Brooklyn. The purchase puts the Shape of You singer right next door to none other than hip-hop superstar Kendrick Lamar.
Ed, who is estimated to be worth an eye-watering £300 million, reportedly made the purchase through a company he and his wife Cherry Seaborn set up specifically for the deal. Official documents filed in New York confirm there’s no mortgage or loan involved, meaning Ed bought the property outright.
The Grammy-winning hitmaker, 34, is no stranger to New York living. He and Cherry had already been renting a lavish pad in the same complex for a jaw-dropping £25,000 per month. But now, rather than continue to rent, they’ve decided to make their presence in Brooklyn permanent.
The new home spans around 3,400 square feet and boasts sweeping city views, high ceilings, and all the luxury you’d expect from an exclusive New York residence. The deal was struck off-market, meaning the property never even hit the open listings before Ed snapped it up.

With the two music megastars living side by side, fans can’t help but wonder if a Sheeran-Lamar collaboration could be on the cards.
While Ed is famously down-to-earth, and more often spotted in jeans and trainers than on the red carpet, his latest real estate move proves he knows when to splash out for the finer things in life.
